Model/actress Brooklyn Decker had a tougher time of it early the previous day at the U.S. Open than her husband, Andy Roddick, who whipped a companion Nebraskan Jack Sock in straight sets.

Decker was unknown in a long, big sweatshirt as she waited single for Roddick outside the president's gate at 12:45 a.m. the previous day.

COMPLETE US OPEN COVERAGE

abruptly, Decker started getting heckled by a group of intolerant journalists who were on the last media bus and thought Decker was tenture of  land them up.

The journalists screamed over and over again at Decker: "Hurry up and get on the bus," not realizing she was Roddick's famous wife and not with the media. Decker, who arrived to be embarrassed, walked away toward a players' van. Roddick is in action today against Julien Benneteau.

Kate Hudson's dad to release tell-all book

0

Kate Hudson's father is set to let lo a tell-all book.
Bill Hudson - the ex-husband of Goldie Hawn - will feast in a riotous manner all about his life in new tome '2 Versions: The Other Side of renown and Family', which will hit stands on November 1.

According to RadarOnline.com, the book will also document Bill's issues with "relating to insanity" after Kate and her brother Oliver were raised by Goldie's life partner Kurt Russell following her divorce from Bill in 1980.
The book's website states: "Life in the a brilliant concentrated light is not without its consequences, and the Hudson family was no exception. While enjoying success as a part of the 1970s musical group The Hudson Brothers, Bill Hudson fell in love and married actress Goldie Hawn.
"After their divorce, Bill found himself in the middle of the controversial issue of parental alienation. His rights as a father to see his children were often played out in the media because Oliver and Kate became actors themselves."
However, Bill, 61, is hopeful he will one day have a "healthy adult relationship" with his children.

The website of '2 Versions: The Other Side of Fame and Family' continued: "His book also talks about how parents can often become alienated from their children when they don't have primary custody. Hopefully, at some point, this family will be able to have a healthy adult relationship before it's too late."

Dog bites shark and goes viral

0

A dog bites a shark, a man captures it on video, and a
you tube viral event is born. This video, featuring two dogs that appear to be experienced shark herders, is closing in on 3 million views on you tube.

The video began to a granary major attention earlier this week, but it was uploaded a little over a month ago by a 32-year-old construction worker from Perth, Australia who has a fishing-and-journey blog proper called Fishing Western Australia.

He titled the "video Dog has a sit or rest on so as to be carried on a shark" and not the more sensationalist ''dog bites shark'', which is perhaps why it took a while to find legs. But now that it has legs, the video is on fire, going from 1.5 million views to close to 3 million on Friday alone.
On July 20, the videographer posted a note on his blog, using his new found fame to plug tourism to Australia.

I would just like to say thank you everyone who has taken an interest in my video, the response has been amazing, i would really like to urge anyone who is thinking of travailing to Australia to include Broom e and Cape Leveque in your trip  as they are really amazing places.

Zsa Zsa: The Circus Returns To Hollywood

0

These have been tough days for Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Having eluded several close calls with death, the one-time actress, Hungarian beauty queen and bon vivant remains bed-ridden in her ornate Bel Air mansion getting massages, sleeping and watching television -- a far cry from the time not that long ago when she was among the most recognizable celebrities on the planet.

It was hard not to think about her as I drove down Sunset Boulevard the other day and was struck by a billboard featuring a giant photo of Zsa Zsa and her ninth husband, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, on their wedding day, nearly 25 years ago.

After all, there aren't many people in Hollywood who can brag about a 25-year marriage after eight divorces.

With Gabor having survived her 94th birthday and about to celebrate her anniversary in a lavish party this weekend, I began to muse about what makes Zsa Zsa... well Zsa Zsa.

She appeared in more than 40 feature films, including ones directed by such luminaries as Mervyn LeRoy, Vincent Minnelli and John Houston. But her most memorable roles were in B movies, including my personal favorite, "Queen of Outer Space." I'd be hard pressed to call her a movie star.

Her television career was even more prolific, her appearances having ranged from the sublime -- Playhouse 90 -- to the ridiculous -- Mr. Ed, which featured a talking horse. Zsa Zsa actually earned two Emmy nominations for her TV work. But I've never heard her described as a television star, either.

I decided to call an expert on fame and celebrity. USC professor Leo Braudy, author of The Frenzy of Renown, reminded me of the words of noted historian Daniel J. Boorstin: "A celebrity is a person known for his well-knownness."

"She's a prime example of a kind of emptiness of Hollywood fame," Braudy told me. "It's really more about your publicity, not what you accomplish."

But from my perspective, Zsa Zsa was a pioneer -- probably the first and biggest Hollywood celeb to become famous for being famous. In that sense, she blazed the path for many of today's bad girls of Hollywood, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton (great-niece by her marriage to Conrad Hilton) to name just two.

Like many of those who mirror her today, Zsa Zsa's romantic liaisons became a subject of huge public interest. Her 1983 union with Mexican attorney and actor Felipe de Alba, for one, dissolved after a single day when it was discovered she had failed to properly divorce number seven, Michael O'Hara. British actor George Sanders was married to both Zsa Zsa and her older sister, Magda, though at different times.

While Paris and Lindsay both had their run-ins with the law, Zsa Zsa was masterful in capitalizing on her troubles. "The Slap Heard 'Round the World" was how the media dubbed her confrontation with a towering motorcycle cop who had the audacity to stop Gabor's gleaming white Rolls Royce convertible for a traffic violation. The incident prompted a series of television appearances and film projects for Zsa Zsa.

John Blanchette, who has represented Gabor for 29 years (a relationship that has lasted longer than any of her marriages) said that Zsa Zsa's unique personality cemented her popularity. "There was just more substance there," Blanchette told me. "Henry Kissinger said she was the smartest woman he ever met."

In fact, Gabor had a classical upbringing. She studied at a Swiss boarding school and her first stage appearance was in an operetta staged in Vienna. Gabor's popularity in Hollywood coincided with a Post WWII fascination with Europe.

"It was like a replay of the comedies of the 30s, with European characters in a Fred Astaire movie,'' Braudy explained. "It gave her credibility as an exotic type."

These days, celebrity seems to come much easier . "They just need to have enough money and be in the right place at the right time," Braudy added. "The trick is staying power."

Zsa Zsa has plenty of that.

She survived a series of medical setbacks that could have ended her life a half dozen times in the last decade. It was almost a year ago that a priest administered last rites to her at her hospital bed. Among the problems: a stroke, a fall requiring hip replacement, blood clots, amputation of a leg above the knee, bleeding that left her in a coma -- from which she emerged only three months ago.

I asked her husband, a relentless promoter known around Hollywood simply as "the prince," what life is like for Zsa Zsa these days. He told me that though she is bed ridden, she is much more responsive today than when she returned from the hospital. She's comfortable, in no pain and takes only two pills daily.

"She watches TV and talks a little," he said. "I tell her stories, the good times we had in Paris. We talk about family and Hollywood and the Oscars. When it's a good subject she smiles. She gets it."

Mainly her husband sees his role as keeping Zsa Zsa (and not coincidentally himself) front and center in the world of Hollywood gossip. He never misses an opportunity to get public attention, which included the $68,000 he spent on the giant Sunset Strip billboard featuring Zsa Zsa in her Oscar del la Renta wedding dress and he in his princely uniform.

His antics have drawn withering criticism from Zsa Zsa's only daughter, Francesca Hilton, and some in the entertainment world. Howard Bragman, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Bragman) one of Hollywood's top celebrity publicists who is not above using a stunt or two to get publicity for his clients, told me he considers this latest move "grotesque."

"Seriously, folks, It shows such an addiction to fame and attention," Bragman told me. "And what's with the uniform? Prince of what? Did he buy it at the back of the Robb Report?" (In fact, the prince was born Hans Robert Lichtenberg) and received his title when he was adopted as an adult by Princess Marie-Auguste of Anhalt , daughter-in-law of German Emperor William II, in what was rumored to be a financially solid move for the princess.

The prince said he's used to these barbs. "People attack me for a lot of things. I personally don't give a shit. I do what I have to do and what my wife wants me to do."

Zsa Zsa, he added, is bigger than life and it's his job to "blow everything up" to make sure she remains huge in the public's mind.

Sunday night's gala party will be yet another opportunity. There will be a large media tent stocked with a warm and cold buffet. About 80 notables are invited, including Angie Dickenson, Kirk Douglas, Valarie Harper, Hugh Heffner, Larry King, Magic Johnson, Will Smith, Phyllis Diller, Nancy Reagan and..wait for it....Beverly Hills Municipal Judge Charles Rubin, who handed out Zsa Zsa's 72-day jail sentence in the cop-slapping incident.

In December, l there will be a Beverly Hills auction of all Gabor's clothing and other items, including 10 fur coats and thousands of designer dresses. Yes, that will include the summer frock that her publicist calls the "slapper dress."

"All of Hollywood is a circus," the prince concluded. "That's why we're here. What my wife did was a circus, so I continue."
On this, the prince and I agree. What is Hollywood if not a huckster's paradise? And if Zsa Zsa is the ringmaster, I say bring in the clowns!

Dianna Agron Dyes Hair Pink, Discusses Lindsay Lohan

0

Glee actress Dianna Agron has joined in on the pink hair pandemic and colored her newly shortened “do,” following in the footsteps of pop star Katy Perry, who also recently dyed her locks a fuchsia tint.

Dianna, who plays a cheerleader named Quinn Fabray on the hit Fox musical comedy-drama series, was spotted on Thursday by PEOPLE magazine sporting the grungy new look as she got into her Audi in Los Angeles.

And while the 25-year-old star’s latest hair-hue look is definitely edgy, she  recently revealed in September’s Cosmopolitan that she wants to be taken seriously.

In the magazine, which Agron graces the cover of wearing a sleeveless white dress and sporting her previously blonde shaggy bob, the actress comments that unlike some of her peers, she wants to be known for her talents.

According to Agron, the moment you let the media or press too far into your personal life, that goal becomes unobtainable.

“It’s really sad looking at people like Lindsay Lohan. She’s an amazing actress, but you see what happens when people know too much about your personal life. They start not being able to look at you the same way professionally. I don’t want that to happen to me.”

India on the rocks again

0

Engand enjoyed an excellent opening day in the third Test against India as they pursued a win that would see them replace the tourists at the head of the ICC's Test Championship table.
They closed on 84 without loss in reply to India's modest first innings 224, a deficit of 140 runs, at Edgbaston here on Wednesday.
England captain Andrew Strauss was 52 not out and fellow left-handed opener Alastair Cook 27 not out in front of a sell-out 25,000 crowd at Warwickshire's headquarters, redeveloped at a cost of 32 million pounds.
Their unbroken stand rounded off a good day for England, already 2-0 up, as they pursued a victory that see them take the four-match series and go to the top of the Test standings.
Strauss, in what was his best Test score this season, set the seal on a fine first day for England shortly before stumps by completing a 76-ball fifty including 10 fours.

Earlier seamers Stuart Broad and Tim Bresnan, England's heroes with both bat and ball during their crushing 319-run second Test win at Trent Bridge, shared eight wickets.
Broad took four for 53 in 17 overs, with the fast-medium bowler dismissing both Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar as the India stars managed just one run between them.
Meanwhile Bresnan, recalled at Trent Bridge in place of the still-injured Chris Tremlett, had four for 62 in 20 overs.
India have yet to post 300 this series but captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni prevented total embarrassment with a swashbuckling 77 after a top-order collapse reduced his side to 111 for seven.
Together with the resourceful Praveen Kumar, he added a run-a-ball 84 for the eighth wicket.
Dhoni, whose previous best score this series was 28 in the opener at Lord's, launched James Anderson for a straight six and also clubbed Bresnan high over long-on as he at last found his form with the bat.
Kumar was no silent partner, hitting a six and four fours in his 26 before, trying to hook Bresnan, he was caught by wicketkeeper Matt Prior.

Dhoni was eventually out when an edged drive off Broad was held by first slip Strauss to end a 96-ball knock featuring three sixes and 10 fours.
Injury-hit India, after losing the toss in overcast, seam bowler friendly conditions, slumped to 75 for four at lunch with Rahul Dravid brilliantly bowled by Bresnan for 22 off the last ball before the interval.
India then lost their next three wickets for just 19 runs, with Bresnan again exposing Venkatsai Laxman's vulnerability against the short delivery when the elegant batsman didn't get over a pull short and holed out straight to Broad at long leg for 30.
Broad had previously struck first ball to remove dynamic opening batsman Sehwag for a golden duck.
Bresnan then ended a stand worth 51 when left-hander Gambhir inside-edged onto his stumps for 38.
Gambhir's exit brought in Tendulkar who received a standing ovation as he walked out in pursuit of an unprecedented 100th international hundred.
But Tendulkar made just one before he was lured into playing a Broad delivery outside off-stump he might have left and edged to third slip Anderson.

Another missing Aruba gal

0

A second American woman has gone missing in Aruba.

Six years after Natalee Holloway vanished without a trace while vacationing on the Caribbean island, police are probing the disappearance of another blond beauty, Robyn Gardner.

The 35-year-old from Frederick, Md., was reported missing on Aug. 2 by Gary Giordano, whom she met online and who had invited her to join him on vacation.

Giordano, 50, whose lawyer says he was being unjustly held by police, resides in the same town where Gardner lives with her boyfriend, Richard Forester.

Forester told The Post that he and Gardner had fought over Giordano, but that he was unaware she had gone to Aruba with his rival.

She vanished after going snorkeling, Giordano told cops. But Forester said "she would never have done that."

"She is very concerned about her hair and makeup and would much rather sit at a pool," Forester said.

Sarah Palin has new granddaughter, Kyla Grace

0

Sarah Palin is a grandmother again.Kyla Grace Palin was born Saturday to Palin's eldest son, 22-year-old Track Palin, and his new wife, 21-year-old Britta Hanson.
Hanson's mother, Elizabeth Hanson, confirmed the birth and told The Associated Press that the baby girl is "exquisite." At birth, the littlest Palin weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces (3.14 kilograms), according to the maternal grandmother.
"She's adorable," she said Wednesday, adding that the family is doing well. "We're all extremely excited about her arrival."

Sarah Palin, a former Alaska governor and the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, is mulling a possible run for the presidency in 2012. She has not made a public comment about the new addition to the family.
Track Palin and Britta Hanson were high-school sweethearts. They married three months ago at Hatcher Pass, a scenic mountain pass not far from Sarah Palin's Wasilla home.
"Yes, they did & we couldn't be any more blessed!" Sarah Palin tweeted on May 19.
Britta Hanson's father is the Rev. Duane Hanson, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wasilla.
Track Palin is an Army reservist. He spent a year deployed in Iraq with the Army. When his mother was on the Republican ticket in 2008, she spoke at her son's deployment ceremony.
Track Palin joined the Army on the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Hanson is a University of Alaska nursing students.
Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, have four other children. Their other grandchild is Tripp, who was born to then 18-year-old Bristol Palin, an unwed mother who launched an abstinence campaign soon after giving birth in December 2008.
Bristol Palin, now 20, and the boy's father, Levi Johnston, are no longer together.
Her pregnancy at age 17 was announced days after Sen. John McCain picked her mother to be his running mate.

Ann Coulter joins gay conservative group

0

Right-wing provocateur Ann Coulter has joined the advisory board of GOProud, a small Washington, D.C.-based organization that represents gay conservatives, the group announced Tuesday.

Coulter has long been a supporter of the advocacy group, which claims the support of a string of high-profile conservatives, including anti-tax activist Grover Norquist, online media mogul Andrew Breitbart, and Republican strategist Roger Stone, all of whom serve on the organization's advisory board.

"I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud's Advisory Council, and look forward to being the queen of fabulous," Coulter said in a statement.

Coulter headlined GOProud's first national meeting last fall, where she sparred with attendees over gay marriage, a policy she personally opposes.

"Gay rights advocate" might not be the first thing that comes to mind for most people when they think of Coulter--who calls herself "the right-wing Judy Garland"--but she says that she has a secret gay fan base.

"I didn't expect that so many gays would be such huge fans of mine, but yet, it's true," Coulter said during a recent interview with C-SPAN. "I think all gays who were born gay are overwhelmingly conservative--maybe apolitical--and all those angry gays, causing trouble for everybody, I don't even think they were born gay, I just think they were angry at their fathers."

The group's existence has caused a stir within the conservative movement, which is grappling with whether to accept organizations that identify as gay. The American Conservative Union decided last month to reject GOProud as a co-sponsor of its annual Conservative Political Action Conference, after several groups boycotted the 2011 convention in protest of GOProud's presence. The chairman of the American Conservative Union met with GOProud's executive director, Jimmy LaSalvia, and its chairman, Christopher Barron, last week

Jane Fonda happy at 73, talks plastic surgery and 'beautiful mug shot'

0

Jane Fonda, 73,

says she is the happiest she has ever been and plans to make the most out of her remaining years after dealing with eating disorders, breast cancer, three divorces, political controversy and family turmoil.

"I've never been happier," Fonda told ABC News. "It takes a village. I'm sitting here in front of a camera. I spent an hour and a half having someone put makeup on me and do my hair and there's a filter on the camera and there's beautiful lighting and without all that, I don't look that great. When all of that goes away, I still look good for my age but I don't look great."

Fonda has many reasons to celebrate. After three divorces, she has a new man in her life - 69-year-old music producer Richard Perry. She is also a breast cancer survivor. She made headlines in November when she said she underwent a procedure to remove a tumor, which turned out to be non-invasive.

Fonda rose to fame a sex symbol due in part to her role in the 1968 film "Barbarella" and her numerous exercise videos, the first of which was released in the early 1980s. She showcases a trim figure in a photo spread published in a recent issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine.

The actress, who recently underwent plastic surgery on face, including around her eyes, told ABC News recently she is "vain" about her looks.

"If I end up in an elevator with overhead light with a guy who is cute, I tend to kind of go like this," she said during her video interview, putting her hand over her eyes.

Fonda suffered from the eating disorders anorexia and bulimia for about 30 years and had at one point become addicted to exercise. She said last year that she has dealt with her body image problems and that she works out in moderation.

Fonda also detailed her struggles with her body to Harper's Bazaar, saying: "I was raised in the '50s. I was taught by my father that how I looked was all that mattered, frankly. He was a good man, and I was mad for him, but he sent messages to me that fathers should not send: Unless you look perfect, you're not going to be loved."

Fonda's father was the late actor Henry Fonda. Her mother, Frances Ford Seymour Brokaw, committed suicide in 1950, when the actress was 12.

Fonda has dealt with criticism for more than her looks. The longtime liberal political activist was dubbed "Hanoi Jane" by Vietnam War supporters following a controversial visit to North Vietnam in 1972. She later stirred more anger when photos showed her sitting atop a Viet Cong anti-aircraft gun. The actress has since said she regrets posing for them and writes about forgiveness in her new book.

"The gun was inactive, there were no planes overhead, I simply wasn't thinking about what I was doing, only about what I was feeling, innocent of what the photo implies," <="" a="">. "I have apologized numerous times for any pain I may have caused servicemen and their families because of this photograph. It was never my intention to cause harm."

<="" a=""> In July, QVC canceled an appearance she was supposed to make, citing a routine programming change. The actress said the network had received calls from people criticizing her opposition to the Vietnam War and added that she was "deeply disappointed."

However, today, Fonda is able to laugh about a different controversial issue that has haunted her. Her Twitter profile picture is her infamous 1970 mug shot, taken after she was arrested for alleged drug smuggling in Ohio. Fonda had traveled from Canada, where she had given a speech about the Vietnam War as part of a speaking tour. The pills she carried were later found to be vitamins. In 2009, Fonda was photographed carrying a clutch decorated with a print of her booking photo.

"It was like I had Richard Avedon in that jailhouse taking my mug shot; it's a beautiful mug shot," she told Harper's Bazaar. "My hair was in Klute mode. About four years ago, I went to the Sally Hershberger salon in New York and one entire wall, like six feet, was my mug shot!"

Mel Gibson reunites with estranged wife for formerly conjoined twins birthday party

0

Mel Gibson and his estranged wife Robyn reunited on Saturday for the birthday of formerly conjoined twins, Maria de Jesus and Maria Teresa Quiej-Alvarez.

"We're all involved in Josie and Teresa's lives," Gibson told People magazine, referring to the girls by their nicknames. "It's incredible seeing Josie and Teresa do so well. Listening to Josie speak, you think, 'Man, this is the happiest kid I've ever seen.'"

The Guatemalan twins, who were formerly conjoined at the skull, underwent separation surgery in 2002. They turned 10 years old on August 6 and celebrated with a Hawaiian-themed party in the Malibu hills, hosted by the Mending Kids International charity.

Gibson and Robyn spent time with three of their grandchildren at the event, where they were honored for their support of the charity, which provides surgical care for children worldwide.

"We gave them financial support, but it was hands-on sometimes. I remember Robyn taking care of children who came here [for surgery]," Gibson said. "All of my kids do give back. Our children have been raised that way and that will be an integral part of their lives as they move on."

Robyn was formerly the president of the board of directors and Gibson recently returned from two medical trips to Guatemala and Panama, where he completed community service for misdemeanor battery charges against his former girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva.

Gibson and Robyn Gibson will reportedly reach their divorce agreement and have a judgment ready by August 30.

Robyn Gibson filed for divorce in April 2009 after 26 years of marriage and just months before the actor's then-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, gave birth to a baby girl named Lucia.

The two have seven children together. All are adults aside from the couple's son Thomas, who is 12. Gibson cited in his court filings that the couple separated in 2006. There were no additional details on how their assets will be divided.

Gibson was sentenced in March to informal probation for 36 months, 16 hours of community service with Mending Kids International, a 53-week domestic violence program, continued mental health counseling and a $400 domestic violence fine for his misdemeanor battery charges against Grigorieva, to which he pleaded no contest. If he violates his probation, Gibson could face up to a year in prison.

The former couple is still engaged in an ongoing custody battle over their infant daughter.

Grigorieva and Gibson are believed to have broken up around April 2010 after being linked together for about a year. She had dropped her domestic violence claim because she wanted to extend an olive branch to Gibson, her other attorney, Ron Litz told OnTheRedCarpet.com in May.

Meanwhile, Gibson is trying to revive his film career. His latest movie, "The Beaver," flopped at the box office. He will next appear in the dark comedy, "How I Spent My Summer Vacation."

Victoria Beckham ‘eager to tone up’

0

Victoria Beckham is finding it “difficult” to get her pre-pregnancy body back, according to a source.
The 37-year-old star gave birth to her fourth child, a daughter called Harper Seven, in Los Angeles last month, and has since been concentrating on getting her naturally slim body back.

Victoria, who is renowned for taking care of her immaculate appearance, is reportedly struggling with her body image after the arrival of Harper.
“Vic has barely slept in the past few weeks and has dark bags under her eyes. She’s finding it more difficult to lose the extra weight than she has done in the past and, even though she’s slimmed right down, she thinks her stomach is saggy,” a source told Closer magazine.
Victoria and soccer star husband David’s new arrival joins a brood of three sons - Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, nine, and Cruz, six. Despite her husband showering her with compliments, Victoria is reportedly hell-bent on regaining her signature slim frame.
“David’s been telling her she looks great and just the same as before – but she doesn’t believe him,” the source added.
“Her figure is extremely important to her. She’s desperate to tone up her body.”

Christina Aguilera Records Lullaby for YUM Brands Hunger Relief Campaign

0

As famine ravages Africa, Grammy Award-winning vocalist Christina Aguilera has a new video geared to helping the fight against world hunger.

It will show her singing a lullaby to a group of children with lyrics that stress the need to care about people who don’t have enough to eat.

The video stems from Aguilera’s work as a global spokeswoman for YUM! Brands Inc., which owns thousands of KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut restaurants worldwide. The company set up the public-service video, scheduled to air on U.S. television beginning in September, as part of its 4-year-old campaign against world hunger.

“After I had my son, Max, I knew I wanted to get involved in causes that help children,” said Aguilera by e-mail about her 3-year-old son. “When I learned how millions of children go to bed hungry, my only response was, ‘What can I do to help?’”

Aguilera, a spokeswoman for YUM Brands’ World Hunger Relief program since 2009, said, “We tried to incorporate a classic lullaby but give it a new twist.” The company declined to provide a title or lyrics for the song.

Aguilera has sold about 50 million albums worldwide and has served as a co-star and coach on NBC’s “The Voice.” Since joining Yum Brands’ efforts, the 30-year-old Staten Island, New York, native has helped the company raise about $50 million. Proceeds go to the United Nations World Food Programme.

She will also appear in KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell ads promoting the hunger-relief campaign.

“Christina is an incredible humanitarian,” Jonathan Blum, a YUM Brands senior vice president in Louisville, Kentucky, said by phone. “She’s using her status to create awareness for hunger relief.”

‘Crazy About Pippa’: A preview of TLC’s Pippa Middleton love fest

0

TLC’s “Crazy About Pippa” — the hour-long special devoted to Pippa Middleton, the sister of Duchess Catherine and a woman described in the show as a “global phenomenon” — airs tonight on TLC.

As you might expect, it’s an extremely hard-hitting, exposé-style portrait worthy of “60 Minutes” ... just kidding! It actually appears to a guilty pleasure-worthy bit of broadcast fluff that will be savored by most royal watchers as well as anyone who thought the maid of honor upstaged the bride during the recent wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

As for the title, “Crazy About Pippa,” the show was almost titled “Everybody Loves Pippa” or “That Girl! ... Who is Related to a Duchess,” but unfortunately both names bumped with TLC’s legal department. (And once again — just kidding.)

Watch a promo for the show below, then hit the jump to watch a pair of clips, one that focuses on how Pippa Middleton captivated the public on her sister’s wedding day and another on a $5 million offer she received post-wedding to appear in an adult film. (That film, naturally, never came to pass. But if it had, I suspect it would not have been called “Crazy About Pippa.”)

Simon Cowell predicts "X Factor" will thrash rivals

0

Cowell, both executive producer and acid-tongued judge on the U.S. version of "The X Factor" called the singing contest a "game changer" and said it was "completely different" in style and content from his old vehicle "American Idol".
Asked whether he thought "X Factor", with its unprecedented $5 million cash prize for the winner, would beat "Idol" in the TV ratings when it debuts on Fox in September, Cowell told television journalists.
"If I didn't think we could -- and its not just 'Idol', it's any show -- we don't enter something for the silver medal. You do it because you want to be number one, and for the next few months we are going to throw everything at this to try and make it the best show on TV," the British producer said.
"I wouldn't have made the show unless I thought it would be different...we see this as a game changer," he added.
Fox, which broadcasts both talent shows, said it believed "X Factor" would reverse the network's historically "patchy" ratings in the fall TV season.
"If 'X Factor' can do half of what we hope it will do in the fall, Fox is going to be really difficult for the other guys to reckon with," Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly said.
"X Factor" marks the return of the abrasive but popular Cowell to U.S. television after quitting "American Idol" in 2010 following 10 years in the judges' seat, and reunites him with his old "Idol" sparring partner Paula Abdul.
The new show debuts in a now-crowded market for TV talent contests that includes the surprise success of NBC newcomer "The Voice" earlier this year, and established favorites like "America's Got Talent" and a capella contest "The Sing-Off", as well as a revamped and resurgent "Idol" which airs from January-May.
"X Factor" welcomes contestants 13 years-old and up, as well as singing groups. It turns the judges into competing mentors and has contestants auditioning before vast stadium audiences.
"We will show the good bits, the bad bits, the ugly bits -- and there are a lot of ugly bits," Cowell said, saying there was room for more than two or three hit TV singing shows,
While the revamped "American Idol", with new judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, increased audiences last season with a softer and kinder attitude toward its aspiring young stars, Cowell has clearly abandoned none of the sarcasm and biting wit that helped make him a star on U.S. TV.
Asked how it felt to be working again with Cowell, Abdul told reporters, "It's nice to be back in a demented relationship. It's like home."
"I think its more like 'The Exorcist 2'," retorted Cowell.
But he confessed that he had met his match in some of the younger contestants auditioning for a spot on the show.

"We have had to say to some of the 14-year-olds 'please be kind to me'...I was quite traumatized after some of the auditions." Cowell said that one young rapper had "absolutely chewed me apart. But I quite like that."

Donald Trump Says He ‘Wouldn’t Be Surprised’ To See A Democrat Run Against Obama In 2012

0

oday on Your World, Neil Cavuto got a call from Donald Trump to discuss the craziness going on with the markets, the likes of which Trump said he’d never seen before. The Apprentice-star blamed the volatile movement of the past couple days on a “crisis of leadership” here in America, saying that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if another Democrat ran against President Obama in the upcoming primary.

Of course, yesterday he blamed the market on Obama having a birthday so, grain of salt, I suppose.

“Well, I don’t think anybody can be [a fan of how the President's handling things]. I haven’t heard anybody- even his biggest allies are not fans so much anymore. I actually wouldn’t be that surprised if you saw a nice liberal move to run against him in the primaries. I would not be at all surprised if somebody on the liberal side of things, the liberal side of the world decided to run against him. I mean, think of it from their standpoint. It doesn’t happen to be my persuasion but think of it. He’s got us in these wars, he stayed in them, he was going to get us out right away and we’re in there worse than we ever were. Just from that one element, if I’m a liberal, I’m saying ‘Let’s run against this guy in the primary.’”

There’s some truth there but, really, it seems pretty darn unlikely to me that there would be any serious liberal campaign against Obama. Then again, Trump is definitely working on a different level than I am. I know that sounds like I’m being sarcastic but I’m not. The fact was thrown into harsh relief later in the clip when Trump discussed buying “golf clubs” and there were a few seconds where I thought he meant the things you use to hit the balls, not the actual country clubs themselves.

Marilyn Monroe film to open New York film festival

encounter between Monroe and a set assistant while she was filming The Prince and the Showgirl opposite Laurence Olivier.
The film stars Oscar-nominee Michelle Williams as Monroe, with Kenneth Branagh as Olivier.
It will premiere during the two-week festival on 9 October.
Directed by Britain's Simon Curtis, the film is based on a week that British writer Colin Clark spent with Monroe filming the romantic comedy, while on honeymoon with her husband, playwright Arthur Miller.
During that time, he kept a diary documenting the interactions between the two lead actors.
Clark was later assigned to introduce Monroe to British life.
Dougray Scott also stars in the film as Miller, while Dame Judi Dench, Emma Watson and Dominic Cooper also star.
Tess of the D'Urbervilles star Eddie Redmayne stars as the 23-year-old Clark.

"After seeing Marilyn Monroe so often portrayed in films as a caricature, it is a pleasure to see this complex personality and unique on-screen presence portrayed so well," said Richard Pena, programme director for The Film Society of Lincoln Center, which backs the festival.
The film will be released in UK cinemas on 14 November.

Matt Damon passionately defends teachers to reporter during march for schools in Washington, D.C. Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2011/08/03/2011-08-03_matt_damon_passionately_defends_teachers_to_reporter_during_march_for_schools_in.html#ixzz1U2N3j0oK

0

Matt Damon isn't just passionate about acting.

The actor, 40, took on another cause near and dear to his heart, job security for America's teachers, during a recent march for schools in Washington, D.C..

After a reporter insinuated that teachers should perhaps work harder to ensure they keep their jobs, Damon, there with his teacher-mother, exploded on the woman -- and later on her cameraman.

"You think job insecurity is what makes me work hard?" he asks, clearly offended. "I want to be an actor. That's not an incentive ... It's like saying a teacher is going to get lazy when they have tenure. A teacher wants to teach. I mean, why else would you take a sh---y salary and really long hours and do that job unless you really love to do it?"

The reports is stunned into silence, so her cameraman butts in.

"Ten percent of teachers are bad," the man behind the camera insisted.

When Damon's mother asks "Where did you get that number?" the cameraman continued: "Ten percent of people in any profession maybe should think of something else."
